Catherine is a specialist artist working with traditional methods producing art pieces freehand using techniques learnt throughout her youth.
Catherine has been painting with water colors and oils for 30+ years and using indian inks for 20+ years.
In the 1980s Catherine lived in the archapelglio of islands at the very North of Scotland called the Orkney Islands and in particular took inspiration from one of the most beautiful, historical and culturally rich islands, Rousay.
Rousay (the name meaning "Rolf's Island" in old Norse) has been quoted as having the most dense level of historical attractions in such a small area and as such is often a mecca for tourists looking for local history. The ferry service running to Rousay and 2 other surrounding islands gives tourists access to 166 historical tourist attractions, beautiful scenery and some of the best wildlife thanks to the animal reserves.
Catherine grew up helping in the family business which ran tours around the island of Rousay and began sharing the history and magic of the island with visitors through communication.
In the 1980s tourism increased greatly to the islands and Catherine brought her love of art to the islands tourist industry and began selling some unique one off pieces on sale or return to the local craft shops. Catherine was pleased to find her water colors and indian inks popular as they depicted the beautiful scenery and captured the culture found on this unique island making possibly one of the best souvenirs for visitors.
Even to this day you will find Catherine using Orcadian inspiration in her artwork making the pieces truly unique.
